​After teaching for 13 years in various districts working with special needs preschoolers, I began working for Newton Local Schools in Ohio teaching third grade in 2007.  I taught third grade for three years and first grade for three years. I began teaching kindergarten five years ago, and I really feel like this is where I need to be right now in my professional career.

​I have been working with other educators since 2015. I began with a group of five educators who, like me, found themselves unhappy with the "Sit, Cut, and Paste" classroom environment that seemed to infiltrate our own classrooms. I led this group through book studies and discussions and watched as our group grew from five educators to over 100. 

​

I provide STEM, STEAM, and Arts Integration professional development to local schools and teachers.

​

I have presented Makerspace and Tinkering professional development sessions at the Ohio Association for the Education of Young Children 2017 Conference and the National Association for the Education of Young Children 2018 Conference.

​

I have presented Arts Integrated sessions entitled "The Art of Tinkering" and "Make Space for a Makerspace" for Educationcloset's Winter 2018 Arts Integration & STEAM Online Conference.
